This is a picture of Andrew and his dad on July 27th at the Cub Scout Day Camp at Camp Oakarro, Wadsworth, IL. Andrew caught a fish at Lake Michael. He was so proud of it.

AAADD Anyone?

A friend of mine, Jolyn, emailed me the following tidbit. I've seen it several times before, but I always get a laugh out of it. I'm not there yet, and I hope that I won't be for a very long time!

AAADD- KNOW THE SYMPTOMS

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed

the bills aren't paid

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter

the flowers don't have enough water

there is still only 1 check in my check book

I can't find the remote

I can't find my glasses

and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail....

Do me a favor. Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember who I've sent it to.

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

Cute Kids Below

The following pictures are the latest of my grandchildren. Enjoy!! Beautiful aren't they? But then, I'm just their proud grandma. ;D

Andrew is eight. He's my little "Book Worm" guy. When he's not swimming, doing cub scouts activities or hanging out with " Grumpa" Vanderspool, you'll find him curled up somewhere reading. He's on the fifth volume of the Harry Potter series right now. [He might even be finished] That's Journey with Andrew.
Six years old Marli was on a soccer team this past Spring. Her team won all their games with Marli helping score a lot of the goals. She was a "busy little bee"! Besides playing soccer, she took dance lessons too. Along with Andrew she was on a swim team during June and July. She loves reading, drawing and doing creative things.

Joshua Ray turned 4 in April. This picture was taken in May at his pre-school's Mother's Day program. This little guy is a one-of-a-kind kid!! He's into trains, super heroes, and anything that has wheels.

This little adorable cutie is Rachel Rose just before she turned 8 months in June. She was one lucky little doll who got to go along with daddy and mommy on their five days trip to the Bahamas. She loved the ocean! Rachel is another "water baby" just like her older sister, Marli.

Finally..........

Hello Everyone,

Yes, I'm still alive and kicking!! I know it's been quite a long while since I've written anything to anybody! My best friend, Kathy, must be pretty upset with me by now, especially since it's been months that I've written her! Allen and Doug are probably upset too. I'll try to do better. Maybe this blog will help me.

I'm doing pretty well lately, some days are better than others, if you know what I mean. Life here at the Fountains at Crystal Lake goes on as it always does. Yesterday [July 20] we had a Country Fair event with music entertainment, merchandise tables, games, and food. There was also a raffle drawing and yours truly actually won something! A pair of pretty Fall wall hangings! They will become part of my Fall decor come September.

Thursday night [July 18] I treated my family to dinner at TGIF Friday here in Crystal Lake. They came over [from Spring Grove] after Rob got home from work. The kids practised using their best manners so well that our waitress complimented them and said they were the best behaved children she'd seen all day! Tuesday night [July 17] Andrew and Marli had a swim meet over here in Crystal Lake, so Rob pick me up after work and we met the rest of the crew at the Country Club [beautiful place!]. It was fun getting to watch the kids win second place in a couple of the events. This was their first year in being on a swim team, so I think they've done very well. They've managed to win ribbons at all their meets and today [July 21] they went to the final meet in Rockford. [Update coming later]

Monday night [July 16] I had another bout with my stomach being upset. I have had these episodes at least once or twice a month ever since my surgry over a year ago! This one was a little worse than some of the others! Time to see a Gastric Specialist I guess. Rob is going to get me an appointment with one in McHenry and take me soon. Tuesday morning, my friend Cindy, dropped by with a surprise present. It was the cutest metal box with three very cute little lady bugs inside. [At the Country Fair yesterday, I bought two more little ones to add the other three] Cindy stayed and made me a cup of hot tea and straightened up a few things in the bathroom for me. It was sweet of her to do so. By the afternoon I felt much better, had a shower and ate a little dinner. I was glad I felt better enough to attend the swim meet that evening after all.
